Mountain View DeSoto Healthcare Center Billing & Insurance

Billing & Insurance

We accept most commercial insurances. However, it is the patient’s responsibility to understand whether their insurance will provide payment for our services. If insurance forms are completed accurately, we will submit claims for payment of services. Based on your insurance coverage you may be responsible for co-payments, or other deductible amounts. We are participants of the Louisiana Medicaid program. Patients with Medicaid receive approved services at no additional costs. We accept all Bayou Health Plans (Amerigroup, AmeriHealth Caritas [formerly LaCare], Louisiana Healthcare Connections, Community Health Solutions, United Healthcare of Louisiana). We also accept LaChip and Take Charge (for family planning).

DHC has a “regardless of ability to pay” policy. This does not mean free services. This is to assist uninsured patients who need access to health care services and are not financially able to pay the office visit costs at the day of service. You will be billed for the service and it is your responsibility to show “good faith” by making a payment until paid in full. Office visits are the professional fee you are charged for visiting with one of our providers. In order to minimize the financial burden of uninsured, private pay patients, a 30% discount is offered for same day payment at time of office visit. Office visit charges does not include services rendered during the visit such as labs, procedures or medications administered during the visit. As an enrolled provider of Medicare services we will file claims with Medicare for the services you receive based on their “approved” amount for the service. Medicare will pay 80% of the amount with the remaining amount paid after your annual deductible has been met. If we are informed that you have a Medicare supplemental insurance, we will also file a claim with them for the Medicare deductible or co-insurance. After all available claims have been filed, if there is a claims denial or portion remaining, it is the patient’s responsibility to clear the account with us. You will not receive a bill from us until all Medicare claims have been processed with the balance due determined.

Discount laboratory rates are available to uninsured and underinsured patients. These laboratory prices include commercial laboratory prices and on-site CLIA-waived lab tests. Discounted laboratory charges are due at time of visit. Laboratory charges for recipients of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances will be billed separately by the laboratory performing testing services. DHC has a 30-day billing cycle. In an effort to allow for timely payment, you will receive a statement requesting payment within two billing cycles. If after 90-days, no payment has been made on the account, your account will be turned over for collections.

We accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards and debit cards. Please contact the billing office should you have any financial questions or concerns.
